The rapid growth of population in Seribu Islands led the increase of waste volume in the area. To solve that, the Waste Water Treatment Plant (IPAL) is assessed needs to be built, especially in residential islands.

Head of Seribu Islands Environment Management Office (KLH), Tiur Maeda Hutapea said the domestic waste need to be handled immediately.

"We asked Regency Government could build IPAL in Tidung and other islands which usually visited by tourist," he told.
He added, besides IPAL, the government also needs to control children's amusement ride (odong-odong) which is feared could damage the IPAL underground network.
